The Off Season.
As a soccer fan there are 2 words that I dread, Off Season. The time where you reflect on the past season, whether it was a great season or a disappointment. You look towards the next season to be better than the last and hope that you don’t get news of your top or favorite player leaving your club. The only soccer games you can watch are either at the crack of dawn or while you’re at work. American football and basketball dominate ESPN and all you can think about is March.
We are only about 6 weeks away from the start of the 2011 MLS season and this off season for the LA Galaxy has been interesting. We lost a few players, signed a few more and are expected to be the best. The biggest signing for the Galaxy was our 3rd designated player, Juan Pablo Angel. A brilliant striker who played for Red Bulls New York. The blogs and commentators are claiming that with the help of David Beckham and Landon Donovan, Angel could score upwards of 15 goal this season. It’s a promising prediction, but let’s hope he can be as good as Edson Buddle was last year who the Galaxy lost to Europe.
In all the Galaxy have a lot to prove this year. For one, we haven’t won a MLS Cup since Becks has arrived. We need to do well in Champions League, and we have to get the Supporters’ Shield again. We have some tough competition coming from New York and Salt Lake City, but I have a good feeling about this season. Go Galaxy!
